⚠️ IMPORTANT MIXING NOTES

  • Mix gently to avoid excess bubbles
  • Always use clean, dry containers
  • Do not exceed recommended fragrance load
  • Fragrance strength may vary by scent

When blending two or more fragrances, the total fragrance amount must stay within the lowest allowed usage rate for your application.

Example:
If Fragrance A allows up to 60% and Fragrance B allows up to 30%, your finished blend must stay at or below 30% total.

To blend successfully:

  • Measure each fragrance by weight
  • Split the total fragrance amount between the scents based on how strong you want each one
  • Do not exceed the maximum allowed fragrance load for your application

This keeps your blend safe, compliant, and performing exactly as intended.

Maker Tip:
Think of your fragrance load as one total amount you’re simply dividing it between scents, not adding extra fragrance.

How to Label Your Hand Soap

An IFRA certificate explains the maximum amount of fragrance that can be safely used in a finished product for a specific application (such as soap, candles, or laundry).

It’s important to understand that the maximum usage percentage listed on an IFRA is a safety limit not a recommended amount. Using less is often better for performance, scent balance, and customer experience.

How to Use IFRA Guidelines

  • Always stay at or below the maximum usage level listed
  • Measure fragrance by weight, not by volume
  • Test each fragrance in your product to find the best-performing amount

Every fragrance behaves differently, so testing helps you achieve the best scent strength while staying safe and compliant.

Tip for Beginners

Think of the IFRA limit as a ceiling, not a goal. You don’t need to use the maximum amount for a product to smell great.

❓ Why Should I Read an IFRA Certificate?

What is Proposition 65?
California Proposition 65 is a state disclosure law that requires notices when certain substances may be present above specific exposure thresholds. A Prop 65 notice does not mean a product is unsafe.

What does this mean for this product?
This foaming hand soap base is a rinse-off cosmetic product intended for brief use and washed away with water. It is made using commonly used cosmetic ingredients.

Important note for resellers:
Proposition 65 requirements apply only to sales in California. Customers who relabel or resell finished products are responsible for determining whether any additional disclosures are required based on their specific product and selling location.
